Captain Robert C. Brazill

Captain Brazill for twenty years operated a charter service on Long Beach Island, NJ, and regularly fished the waters near where the massacre at Long Beach took place. Captain Brazill tells the story of the Private Revolution through his fictional, modern-day character, Captain Joe.

Captain Brazill became familiar with the waterways utilized by the privateers, through his vessel transport services, as well as his employ as an assisted towing captain, in addition to his fishing charter service. He worked the waters which troubled the British greatly, from the Chesapeake Bay to the Mullica River and the Little Egg harbor inlet, to the New York harbor.

Captain Brazill traveled and hunted the sandy lanes, swamps, and tangled woods of the South Jersey pine barrens where the patriot and loyalist militias fought their war. He has visited the small towns of the pine barrens and the almost abandoned cemeteries where combatants lie.

In his younger years captain Brazill earned a political science degree from the Pennsylvania State University. While Captain Brazill has retired to South Carolina to be near his children and grandchildren, he thinks that there is more to the story of the American Revolution in South Jersey. He has started his next book, which will be based on the Affair at Little Egg Harbor.
